Discover Catalonia’s sacred mountain on horseback and explore Montserrat’s spiritual heart with your private guide
Discover Catalonia’s sacred mountain on horseback and explore Montserrat’s spiritual heart with your private guide
Enjoy a unique horseback adventure in Montserrat’s stunning Natural Park
Most people arrive at Montserrat by rack railway, follow the signs, queue for Our Lady of Montserrat, and leave. That’s one version of the mountain.
This private Montserrat tour combines a guided visit to the Montserrat Abbey with a horseback ride through Montserrat Natural Park — exclusively for your group, at a pace you control. No shared coach, no fixed group schedule.
Six hours from Barcelona. One mountain. Two completely different ways to be inside it.
Private guided visit to Montserrat Monastery — a Benedictine complex founded in the 10th century and home to La Moreneta, patron saint of Catalonia
Montserrat cable car descent with open views over the serrated massif and the Llobregat valley
Guided horseback ride through the Montserrat Natural Park with an experienced equestrian monitor
Suitable for all riding levels, including complete beginners
Private luxury vehicle for the full round-trip transfer from Barcelona to Montserrat
Exclusively for your group throughout — no shared tours, no strangers
Montserrat sits at 725 metres above the Catalan hinterland, its needle-shaped peaks rising from the Llobregat valley in a formation that looks more sculpted than natural.
The Benedictine monastery embedded into that rock has been an active religious community since the 10th century; Our Lady of Montserrat — the 12th-century Black Madonna housed inside — draws pilgrims from across the world. Your private guide knows the difference between what the crowds see and what the place actually holds.
After the monastery visit, the Aeri de Montserrat cable car drops you to the valley floor — views across the massif on the way down. From there, the equestrian centre. The horseback ride moves through the Montserrat Natural Park at the mountain’s base: pine and scrub oak, limestone rock formations, and the kind of silence that’s harder to find than people expect forty kilometres from Barcelona.

Tips (not required, but appreciated if your guide and monitor earn them)
Your private driver collects you at your Barcelona hotel. One hour to the mountain, no stops.
Your private guide leads the visit — basilica, La Moreneta, the monastic complex. The pace follows your group, not a fixed schedule.
Down to the valley floor, with open views over the Montserrat massif on the way.
Your monitor assesses your group and sets the route. Approximately 1.5 hours through the Montserrat Natural Park. All equipment provided.
Private vehicle waiting at the centre. Back in the city by mid-afternoon.
Free cancellation up to 7 days before the scheduled date (excluding monument and attraction tickets, which are non-refundable once issued). An optional cancellation insurance is available during booking, allowing cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund, excluding tickets where applicable.
Cancellations due to weather or circumstances outside our control are fully refunded. No-shows are charged at the full rate.
Physical level. The monastery involves walking on uneven terrain and some inclines. Comfortable, closed-toe footwear is strongly recommended for both the monastery visit and the horseback ride.
Riding experience. None required. Your equestrian monitor assesses the group on arrival and adjusts pace and route accordingly. Helmets and all safety equipment are provided on-site.
Dress code. Montserrat Monastery is an active Benedictine community. Shoulders and knees should be covered inside the basilica. Layers are advisable — temperatures at 725 metres can differ noticeably from Barcelona.
Timings. Departure is generally morning; exact time confirmed at booking based on your group’s preference and seasonal conditions at Montserrat.
Passport / ID. Not required for this experience.
