Montserrat's monastery sits at 725 metres, wedged into rock spires that look more sculpted than natural from a distance. Your specialist guide leads the visit inside: the basilica, La Moreneta, the monastic complex, at whatever pace your group sets. Then the Aeri cable car carries you down to an equestrian center, where a monitor sets a route through the Natural Park built for riders who have never sat on a horse before. 

Six hours, one private group, two different ways of being on the same mountain: still inside its walls, then moving through the land around it.

How It Runs

Your specialist guide leads the monastery visit at a pace that allows real time with the basilica and La Moreneta. The horseback ride that follows is calm and monitored, built for a group that has likely never ridden before.

Your specialist guide leads the visit to the Abbey or Museum, paced by your group.

Your monitor assesses the group and sets the route. Approximately 1.5 hours through the Natural Park. All riding equipment provided.

Good to Know

  • This private experience can be conducted in English or Spanish; other languages upon request, subject to guide availability.

  • Lunch isn't included, but a farmhouse or restaurant lunch can be arranged as an enhancement (see Enhance Your Experience).

  • Comfortable, closed-toe footwear is strongly recommended, both for the monastery's uneven terrain and for the horseback ride.

  • No riding experience required — your monitor assesses the group on arrival and adjusts pace and route accordingly. Helmets and safety equipment provided on-site.

  • Montserrat Monastery is an active Benedictine community; shoulders and knees should be covered inside the basilica.

  • Layers are advisable — Montserrat sits at 725 metres, and temperatures can run noticeably cooler than Barcelona.

  • Departure is generally in the morning, with hotel pickup in Barcelona; exact time confirmed at booking.

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the scheduled date (excluding monument/attraction tickets, which are non-refundable). An optional cancellation insurance is available during booking, allowing cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund (excluding tickets where applicable). Operator cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are fully refundable. No-shows will be charged the full price.
