Southeast of the capital, Colmenar de Oreja and Chinchón make wine under Madrid's own D.O. This private day visits a cellar in each town, with at least three wines per tasting, paired with Iberian ham, cheese, and croutons. The experience also includes an olive oil tasting and a walk through Chinchón's circular Plaza Mayor.

Wine lists rarely give Madrid its own line, but the capital holds a Denominación de Origen of its own, and the villages that make it are close enough for lunch.

The day moves cellar to cellar: a tasting at a winery in Colmenar de Oreja, paired with Iberian ham, cheese, and croutons, then a second cellar in Chinchón, where you descend among the aging barrels and the aromas do half the explaining.

Your guide is a wine expert as well as an official guide, so the vocabulary comes with the pouring. Chinchón adds its circular Plaza Mayor, a walk through the old quarter, and free time for lunch; one of the wineries also includes a guided olive oil tasting.

Nine hours, private luxury transport from your hotel, door to door. For travelers who assumed Spanish wine stopped at Rioja.
