This one puts a professional oenologist at each of the two wineries — a specialist for every tasting, not just for one, someone trained to answer why this Tempranillo tastes nothing like the one down the road, not just to name the vintage. You'll walk the vineyards, taste a minimum of three wines per cellar, and get free time in Peñafiel, the medieval town under its 10th-century castle, for lunch on your own.

How It Runs

A professional oenologist meets you at each of the two wineries, so the questions that would go unanswered on a standard tasting (why this soil, why this barrel, why this vintage) get a real answer on the spot. The day runs at a set but unhurried pace: two full winery visits, a long stretch of free time in between, and no rush back to Madrid.

Pickup.

Your guide meets you for briefing, then departure from Madrid toward Ribera del Duero.

First winery. 

Arrival, followed by a guided walk through the vineyards and a tasting led by the winery's oenologist — a minimum of three wines.

Winery shop. 

Time to browse before departing for Peñafiel.

Peñafiel, free time. 

Explore the medieval town beneath its hilltop castle and have lunch on your own, at your own pace.

Second winery. 

Departure from Peñafiel for a second vineyard walkthrough and tasting, again with an on-site oenologist.

Return to Madrid. 

Arrival back at your hotel by early evening.

Good to Know

  • This private experience can be conducted in English and Spanish. Other languages are available on request (subject to availability).

  • Led by a specialist guide, with a professional oenologist on-site at each of the two wineries for the tastings themselves.

  • Please notify us of any nutritional requirements — diet, allergies, or other restrictions — when booking, so we can plan accordingly.

  • A full day, with most of the walking limited to vineyards and town streets.

  • Lunch in Peñafiel is free time by default, but a restaurant reservation or a set lunch menu can be arranged in advance on request.

  • This is a wine-focused experience; while children are welcome, tastings are for adults only. Non-alcoholic options can be arranged at each winery on request.

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the scheduled date (excluding monument/attraction tickets, which are non-refundable). An optional cancellation insurance is available during booking, allowing cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund (excluding tickets where applicable).

Operator cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are fully refundable. No-shows will be charged the full price.
