A private visit to Montserrat's monastery, at your own pace, followed by a three-course lunch at a working Catalan farmhouse.

 

 

 

 

Montserrat's monastery sits at 725 metres, wedged into rock spires that look more sculpted than natural from a distance. Your specialist guide leads the visit inside: the basilica, La Moreneta, the monastic complex, at whatever pace your group sets. Then the Aeri cable car carries you down to an equestrian center, where a monitor sets a route through the Natural Park built for riders who have never sat on a horse before. 

Six hours, one private group, two different ways of being on the same mountain: still inside its walls, then moving through the land around it.

How It Runs

The day moves at your pace, not a group's. Your guide can linger longer at the basilica if it holds your attention, or move straight on to lunch if it doesn't.

Hotel Pickup 

Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel. No meeting point to find, no group to locate.

The Drive · Approx. 1 hour. 

The massif is visible from the road well before you arrive at 1,236 metres of eroded limestone rising from the Catalan plain.

Aeri Cable Car 

A few minutes airborne brings you to the monastery complex, with open views across the Catalan interior.

The Basilica · Black Madonna. 

Your guide moves through the basilica at your pace. If the Throne is open that day, you'll visit it; if the Escolanía is singing, you'll hear them —  neither is guaranteed, but nothing about a private day rushes past either one.

Lunch · Working Masia. 

Stone walls, one long table, a three-course meal — two savory courses plus dessert — with drinks included, no rush.

Return to Barcelona. 

Private vehicle back to your hotel in the afternoon.

Good to Know

  • This private experience can be conducted in English or Spanish. Other languages upon request, subject to guide availability.

  • Led by a specialized local guide who tracks the abbey's visiting schedule for Throne and choir access.

  • Some flexibility within the established itinerary — pace, stops, and timing can adjust; ask when booking.

  • Comfortable walking shoes recommended; shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the Abbey.

  • The monastery grounds involve uneven terrain and steps — not suitable for wheelchairs.

  • Montserrat has its own microclimate — expect wind and cooler temperatures than Barcelona year-round; bring a light layer.

  • Let us know about any dietary requirements or allergies when booking — the farmhouse will do its best to accommodate them.

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the scheduled date (excluding monument/attraction tickets, which are non-refundable). An optional cancellation insurance is available during booking, allowing cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund (excluding tickets where applicable). Operator cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are fully refundable. No-shows will be charged the full price.
