Barcelona Private Day Trip: Pals, Tossa de Mar & Camí de Ronda
Walk through time and tradition in the most charming coastal villages of Catalonia
Walk through time and tradition in the most charming coastal villages of Catalonia
Discover the charm of the Mediterranean through its most picturesque fishing villages
There’s a version of this coastline that most people get: a coach, a packed beach, and photographs of places they never quite had time to understand. This isn’t that.
Pals, Calella de Palafrugell, Tossa de Mar. Three villages, each holding a different piece of what the Costa Brava actually is. Medieval stone. A coastal path above the coves. The only fortified medieval village on the sea in all of Catalonia.
The Vila Vella of Tossa de Mar — the only surviving medieval fortified settlement on the Catalan coast
The Camí de Ronda coastal path above the coves of Calella de Palafrugell
Pals medieval quarter: Romanesque tower, cobbled alleys, six centuries mostly undisturbed
Free time in each village — to swim, eat, or stay longer where it suits you
Your group only. Private transport and guide, door to door from your Barcelona hotel
Pals.
A walled medieval town above the Costa Brava coastal plain, largely untouched by modernisation. Most people drive past it. Your guide will walk you through the Gothic quarter and the Romanesque tower of Sant Joan — and through the story of how Pals nearly disappeared and was brought back, stone by stone.
Calella de Palafrugell.
One of the few Costa Brava villages that never fully became a resort. The boats still go out. You’ll walk a stretch of the Camí de Ronda — the ancient coastal path linking coves and headlands — with time to swim or sit at the port. No agenda beyond that.
Tossa de Mar.
The Vila Vella is a complete medieval fortification, still standing above a bay where fishing boats share the beach with swimmers. Marc Chagall spent summers here in the 1930s and called it “the blue paradise.” That wasn’t marketing. Inside the walls, your guide will explain why it still holds.

Operator cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are fully refundable. No-shows will be charged the full price.
Pals and the Camí de Ronda involve uneven terrain. Wear shoes you’d actually walk a city in — not sandals.
Activity level is moderate: stretches of 60–90 minutes on foot, nothing strenuous.
Bring sunscreen, a light layer for the evening drive back, and a swimsuit if you want the option.
May, June, and September offer the best combination of weather and atmosphere on the Costa Brava. July and August are warmer but busier.
