HOW IT RUNS

Your guide handles the timing Pena Palace, Sintra's old town, Cascais or Regaleira, and the drive back so there's no schedule to check. It's a full day, around 9.5 hours door to door, with a good amount of walking on Sintra's cobblestones and slopes.

    Palácio da Pena · Sintra

     Private guide and driver take you up into the hills to Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage town, for a visit to Palácio da Pena, the 19th-century Romanticist palace known for its bold color palette and its mix of Manueline, Moorish, and Gothic detail. Entrance tickets are included, and your guide meets you at the door, so there's no ticket line to stand in.

      Sintra Historic Center

       A short guided walk from the palace through Sintra's old town: narrow cobbled streets, 19th-century mansions, and shops that work off regulars rather than coach groups.

        Route split — Cascais or Quinta da Regaleira:

        • Regular route: The day continues with a drive down to Cascais, once a royal summer retreat and now a working fishing town turned seaside resort. Your guide leads an orientation walk through the center, then hands you free time by the Atlantic for lunch on your own.
        • Upgrade route: Instead of the coast, the afternoon shifts to Quinta da Regaleira — the early-20th-century estate built around a spiral Initiation Well and a network of underground tunnels and grottoes.

        • Walking: a full day on foot in parts, Sintra's palace grounds and old town mean cobblestones, slopes, and some stairs; comfortable, closed-toe shoes recommended.

        • Children: suitable for children, though strollers can struggle on Sintra's cobblestones and steps, a carrier is easier with a toddler.

        • Customization: the route can be adjusted, the standard afternoon in Cascais, or the upgrade to Quinta da Regaleira and its Initiation Well.

        • Lunch: left as free time, in Sintra or Cascais depending on the route, so you choose where and what to eat.

        • Best time to visit: Sintra sits higher and closer to the Atlantic than Lisbon and runs cooler and mistier than the city bring a layer, even in high summer.

        Cancellation Policy

        Free cancellation up to 7 days before the scheduled date (excluding monument/attraction tickets, which are non-refundable). An optional cancellation insurance is available during booking, allowing cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund (excluding tickets where applicable). Operator cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are fully refundable. No-shows will be charged the full price.
